Award-winning Bajan Canadian vocalist and stage performer Sheree Spencer took the stage at CARIFESTA XV as a featured soloist in the international musical theatre production “Mansa Musa and the Trail of Lost Gold, The Prelude.” The much-anticipated production debuted on August 28 and returned on September 1, 2025, at the National Performing Arts Center in Newton, Christ Church, Barbados.
“Mansa Musa and the Trail of Lost Gold, The Prelude” is a large-scale international work by Ghanaian theatre artist Chief Moomen. Bringing together a cast and crew of 150 artists, the production tells the legendary story of Mansa Musa, the famed 14th-century ruler of Mali, through music, theatre and storytelling. It marks the beginning of a global series dedicated to celebrating African history and heritage.

Her body of work reflects a passion for projects that explore African and Caribbean historical narratives through music and theatre.
